February 2025 Newsletter

Have you been refused travel insurance? Are you sure you can visit the Great Wall of China when you’re recovering from treatment?
These and other questions, we hope, will be answered by Danny Palmer (Ancile Insurance Group) and Hayley (Travel Consultant). I had booked a river cruise just before I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My friend and I booked the holiday in January, planning to go on the cruise in December. I decided not to cancel the holiday, partly due to the fact that I didn’t have an annual travel insurance policy in place so I knew I wouldn’t have been able to get my deposit back. So whilst going through my chemotherapy, I knew I had a holiday to look forward to. Once I completed my chemotherapy, I decided to step in to the murky waters of travel insurance. I was refused cover due to the fact that I hadn’t completed my treatment. I was then put in touch with a company and the cover was almost the cost of the holiday!! Well not quite… If this is your experience, come along and listen to Danny and find out how you can move easily through those murky waters. Also, if you use a travel consultant, they can advise you on which holidays can meet your expectations, even though you may have side effects from treatment or long term illness. Come and listen to Danny and Hayley at our next meeting in Stamford on Tuesday 25th February in the Activities Room at the Stamford Day Centre, Ryhall Road, PE9 1UF.

New evening group in Ryhall was a great success
It was lovely to see so many people at the inaugural meeting of the evening group in Ryhall. Fifteen people attended the group and there were some really interesting conversations, and it was lovely to see some of the Stamford group attend and support this new group. We will be holding the group on the second Wednesday of the month at the Methodist Chapel Hall, Mill Street, Ryhall, PE9 4HQ at 7.30pm. The next meeting will be on Wednesday 12th March.
